Thronerock is the capital of The Eladrin Empire, architecturally built in the shape of city-spires under the arch of a massive hole carved through a mountain. While such architecture is often regarded as a sign of Eladrin arrogance, the city was originally created to be the royal fortress on The Material Plane during the war against the Tieflings. Due to Bael-Turath's primary fortresses being located underground, it was built to make raids from The Underdark more difficult. Thronerock is home to the Prince, and the most powerful of the noble families in The Eladrin Empire. Access to the city is limited to a system of four pulley-based elevators at the four edges of the city which is mostly utilized by those with enough money to pay the fare, or an incredibly dangerous lawless zone known as The Crags, a complex system of caves in the side of the mountain populated by gangs, slavers, and traffickers of ill repute.
Mayfell is an imperial protectorate located just outside the borders of The Eladrin Empire. It was said to have originally been an Arkhosian city before being taken over by Bael-Turath, and following the war the Eladrin Empire claimed it as a protectorate. Due to its unique position outside actual imperial territory, the citizens of Mayfell are known to be incredibly independent, and often regard Mayfell as separate from The Empire. Due to its proximity to The Free City, it is one of the most important trade-centers of the world, facilitating trade between The Eladrin Empire and The Free City, which has earned it the moniker The Anchor. It is also known as The City of Pleasures, due to its lax laws regarding gambling and prostitution reportedly dating back to its time as a city of Bael-Turath, when a Corruption Devil was said to rule over the city; an Imperial edict attempting to outlaw such activities proved so unpopular that it was rescinded after a week in the face of mass-riots organized by the city's underworld.
THERUINS OF BAEL-TURATH
Bael-Hexott is the new capital of the remenants of Bael-Turath's nobility, found in the center of The Outlands. While originally built as a fortress in the hopes of continuing the war-effort, the destruction of Vor Kragal had dealt such a blow to the Tiefling empire that eventually such ambitions were abandoned and Bael-Hexott soon grew into a moderately self-sufficient city. After some time, trade was established between the Eladrin Empire and Bael-Hexott, primarily stemming from a non-aggression pact, though the exact details are known only to high-ranking ambassadors and nobles of both nations. Further details regarding Bael-Hexott can be found here.
Vor Kragal was once the capital of Bael-Turath, a mighty fortress of iron and hellstone deep within The Underdark that was said to be literally impregnable. While the location of the ruins are known, some manner of arcane radiation and a large amount of strange and dangerous creatures dubbed 'Hellspawn' have made investigation difficult. It is said in legend that the city was destroyed from the inside during the war, a civil war breaking out amongst generals as the war-effort turned against them and it is said that Asmodeus turned a deaf ear to their pleas for help. The degree of devastation upon the city is such that the lands above became a ruined wasteland, now being known as The Outlands.
